How to get here
The best way to visit the Porto Conte Regional Nature Reserve and the Capo Caccia/Isola Piana Marine Protected Area is, without doubt, to pay a visit first of all to Casa Gioiosa, the heart of the former penal colony of Tramariglio that today plays host to the prestigious headquarters of Alghero’s two protected areas. Here you can find out more about the main attractions of the two areas, as well as visiting the museums and the exhibition rooms. A visit here thus gives you a sampling of the myriad things you can do at Porto Conte and Capo Caccia.
To reach Tramariglio
Departing from Alghero, take the road marked as Strada Statale (or SS) 127 bis, heading in the direction of Porto Conte/Capo Caccia and then take the roads marked as Strada Provinciale (or SP) 55 and 55bis. Tramariglio is to be found around 2km before the end of the roadway. View the route here using Google Maps.
Departing from Sassari, take the road marked as Strada Statale (or SS) 291 “Nurra”, heading in the direction of Alghero, until you come to Santa Maria La Palma, and continue on the road marked as Strada Provinciale (or SP) 55 bis, heading in the direction of Capo Caccia.
Departing from Porto Torres, join the road marked as Strada Provinciale (or SP) 42, heading in the direction of Alghero, until you come to the roundabout marked as “dei due mari”. Then join the road marked as Strada Statale (or SS) 291 until you reach Santa Maria la Palma, and then continue on the road marked as Strada Provinciale (or SP) 55 bis, heading in the direction of Capo Caccia.
Departing from Alghero-Fertilia airport, take the road marked as Strada Provinciale (or SP) 44 heading towards Fertilia. Then take the route marked as variante calich and then the road marked as Strada Statale 291. Once in Fertilia, join the road marked as Strada Provinciale (or SP) 127 bis heading in the direction of Porto Conte/Capo Caccia and then take the road marked as Strada Provinciale (or SP) 55.
