Extending across more than 50,000 hectares, the Porto Conte Regional Nature Reserve encompasses a diverse array of environments, from the coastline to the hillsides. For this reason, the reserve offers a plethora of easy-to-reach panoramic viewpoints. The most noteworthy of these, which is truly unmissable for anyone visiting Porto Conte and Capo Caccia, is without doubt the belvedere overlooking Foradada Island, which can be reached along the SP 55 road heading towards Capo Caccia. From here, you can savour breathtaking panoramas and unforgettable sunsets over Foradada. Moreover, you can take in the entire bay of Porto Conte and its main summits – Mount Doglia and Mount Timidone. Another crucial viewpoint is to be found on the promontory of Punta Giglio, which affords 180° views that range from the horizon, across the city of Alghero itself, all the way to the promontory of Capo Caccia.

By taking a narrow, paved road that branches off from the Strada Statale 291 road (which runs from Fertilia to Santa Maria la Palma), you can easily reach Mount Doglia, the highest relief in the Porto Conte Nature Reserve, where you can marvel at truly 360° views, taking in, on the one side, the bay of Porto Conte and the coastline that stretches out towards Porto Ferro, and on the other, the gulf of Alghero, the Calich wetland and the farmland adjacent to the reserve, extending towards the province of Sassari and the municipalities on the edge of Alghero. If, as an alternative, you go for a relatively easy hike along a certain path, you will come to the summit of Mount Timidone, and here too the 360° views take in everything from the bay of Porto Conte to the cliffs. And we cannot fail to mention the panoramic viewpoints at Cala Porticciolo in the bay of the same name and at Cala Barca, which is located within the state forest of Porto Conte Prigionette.

For daredevils, it is very much worth taking a trip to the summit of Mount Murone, where an eye-popping spectacle awaits.
